t.v. stand turned shoe basket holder AFTER. I also took a shelf I had lying around that my Dad had given me (it was an oak/pine color) and re-did it to match. I added some hooks to it, and this is what I got. I really like the end result, and it cost me next to nothing to do, and all the furniture was FREE-can't beat that! Who ever thinks I can't be thrifty doesn't know me at all.

Home-made gift bags that Alyssa and I made for her teacher's end-of-the-year gifts. It gave us more to do over simply purchasing standard gift bags.
An idea I tried from Family Fun Magazine-I big hit with August and Alyssa. A mushroom-turtle garden. I bought everything from Michaels, and this project of making things from clay and then arranging a garden in terra cotta saucers has brought a lot of entertainment for the two kids.

Memorial Weekend 2010: Crappy weather, but some fun and funny moments. On Saturday we started the day thinking that we were going to head out and hit some Memorial Day sales for kids clothes for the Summer, but I really felt like doing something that everyone would enjoy, something fun. So...we decided to head to the Pacific Science Center instead! That was great fun:-) Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I didn't get to capture any of our fun family moments, but trust me, the kids, Mike and I enjoyed ourselves.
The highlight of the museum for me was what Alyssa did. We had just exited the Butterfly House, and a couple of employees has a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach out for people to see, and Alyssa walked up and asked to hold it. They had her sit down, and they placed it in her hands-two hands because it was such a large insect. My daughter!! I was hovering over her, encouraging her, secretly thinking that she would surely drop it (but hoping not!!) as soon as she realized it was a bug and not a frog, hamster, or something cute. But no. Once she handed it back and we walked away, we had to return three more times so she could hold it again and again. GO AlYSSA-my hero:-))))
We also dined at The Macaroni Grill that day, which is one of our favorite past times. We used to go there back in California, and Matthew always talks about going there, so we thought, what the heck, and we went! It was worth the trip, and we all got our favorite dishes.
We got in some shopping as well-swim suits for the kids and some shorts and cute summer things. Now we just need the weather to perk up! Our ten day looks terrible, but I just keep reminding myself that it can change just as fast, and hopefully it will.
Matthew's funny weekend moment: I don't know if he wants me sharing this, but he was in bed and we had come in to say goodnight. It was Mike's turn to say goodnight, and Matthew looks at him and says, "three seconds to launch. Three, two, one...." then he lets out a big fart. I was in the room, and he thought it was halarious. Boys!!!
Ryan's funny weeekend moment: Oh, who am I kidding, he does this all the time, but sometimes I can't help but laugh. He mocks me, or what he says he thinks I sound like when I ask him to do things. He makes his voice sound like an old nagging lady, and it's funny. You'd have to be there, I guess.
Reagan's Moment this weekend (Sunday night): She had just gotten out of the bath and I was getting her ready for bed, and she said something about pee-pee, so I asked her if she wanted to use her potty (located in our bathroom-we were in her room). She said she did and ran off around the corner with her diaper in hand, to go use her potty. I didn't follow, and waited for her to return. She came back a few seconds later, then got the same look on her face again, and ran back to the potty. She repeated the process once more, then came back and laid down for me to put her diaper on. I asked her if she put her pee-pee in the potty, and she said she did, and we talked about it. I always ask, and she always says she does, but she hasn't used the potty yet, but I encourage her and don't tell her otherwise. I have been trying a new method with her versus with the other kids, an earlier and more laid back method.
Later that night, after I had put everyone to bed, I went back into the bathroom, where liquid in her potty caught my eye. She had REALLY pee'd in her potty, and I missed it! She did it all by herself. I was so shocked!
