Roxie Gets Crafty....

Yes, I've been playing around with some different things, and just wanted to share.  Please keep in mind, these are the FIRST I have ever made of items such as these, and no, I won't be crafting barbie clothes, but my idea is that I can start getting to know my sewing machine better, and practice using it by working with smaller scraps of things I have laying around, with the idea of one day making a larger version, after I get the hang of how to sew. 
As far as the mini top hat, I am again playing around with the idea of costume pieces.  I just love being creative!

OKAY, Remember, this is the first thing out of the gates.  I basically hacked at various materials and stitched them together on the sewing machine, until it looked like something.  Reagan loved it, and carried the barbie everywhere today, and when a girl out saw the doll, she said, "I like her dress".  WHO knew?! 

So happy with Barbie, and a Care Bear she got for 50 cents at a garage sale a couple weekends ago!

It is kind of like an apron/costume dress.  For the girls, I would put a halter top that ties behind the neck, but I just connected it for Barbie so Reagan can just slip it over her head.

My grandmother used to make my barbies clothes when she would watch us.  She would be proud to see this!

Tonight, after the kids were in bed, I was searching for Barbie to show Mike what I made for her (ha!), and I found her here!  Reagan loves this doll house and plays with it all the time now that it is in the playroom...best thing I could have done, moving it in here where it gets use.  Reagan had this whole set-up going on with Barbie as the Mom sitting as the table having dinner with her babies.  SO sweet! I couldn't remove her from her happy home, so I had Mike come check her out from here. 

It's MY turn now...

Reagan has been asking to join a dance class.  More specifically, a ballet and tap class like sister.  While Alyssa actually opted out this time, Reagan still wanted her turn.  I wasn't sure if she would even let me leave her in a class like this, so we did a trial class.  Well, she did great, and she loved it!  I stayed for the first twenty minutes, then went home for a short time, then turned around in time to be there when class ended.  I didn't want to purchase her ballet and tap shoes until I saw that she actually wanted to do the class, so I told her that if she wanted them at the end of class, we would buy them later that day.  She was so happy at the end of class, we went home and I noticed her doing her different things she learned around the house, like pointing her toes, and tapping her feet, and different stretches.  I guess she is getting bigger than I like to think!!

On her way into the building.  She was excited that she got to bring her new Disney Princess backpack with her (well, her sister's) ballet slippers inside. When we got inside, she opened her backpack, took off her boots, put them in her backpack, then put on her slippers, and put her backpack in a cubby.  She was careful to zip it up and made sure she did each step...she was so cute I was just melting!

Reagan is seated right next to Miss Kelsie (on the left).  Miss Sierra is my very favorite helper teacher, who is on the left.  By the end of class Reagan could tell you both of her teacher's names.  She has excellent name recognition...something she didn't get from me!

They had to stand on a number, and she picked a number in the back of the room!

She was easily distracted by the parents, so it is a good thing we can't stay!  Once I arrived, she wouldn't look at her teacher anymore.  She kept staring and smiling at me!!

This was the tap segment, and she didn't have tap shoes yet.  I think she felt a little left out, as she was really looking forward to tapping!  Next class she will get to do the tapping.  She loves her new shoes.

Reagan turns THREE!

Happy Birthday to my sweet little baby girl, our little "Lost Princess", as she sometimes refers to herself as (thank you Rapunzel "Tangled"!).  It is hard to believe that three years has passed since she entered the world!  We are so blessed to have her in our family, and it is such a tremendous joy to us getting to be there as she grows and changes and learns new things each day.  We love our Reagan, and were happy to devote the whole day to celebrating her Birthday!!
I don't have the time tonight to give a detailed post on her birthday, and I will be unavailable to do so for several days, but I at least wanted to get a few pictures up from her special day.



Reagan requested an Ariel Cake for her birthday, but being allergic to egg, I couldn't just walk into a bakery and order one, so I made this egg-free vanilla cake.  It was a true labor of love!  Really, it was pretty simple to make, but I had never worked with fondant, so I was a bit slow.  Matthew and I were the crafters of this cake, and we had lots of fun making it together!!



Reagan woke up on her birthday and asked when we were going to her birthday....um, we were just planning on doing a party at the house and maybe heading to the park, but the weather was crummy, so we ended up heading to Chuck E Cheeses.  We haven't been there in years, but the kids LOVED it!  They all had a great time, and we made the right decision going there over the alternative, which would have been a childrens museum.  We lasted there for 3 hours!

This is what Reagan's face looked like as she watched the animated Chuck E Cheese characters come "alive" on stage for the hourly show.  She eats this stuff up, and it is SOO cute to watch!

Matthew won a lot of tickets at Chuck E Cheese, and he chose to redeem them on something for Reagan, and then he came home and wrapped it.  My heart melted!  He wanted to give her his gift first, as you can see him doing here.

A gift Alyssa assembled during Reagan's nap.  She had me write a note to her on the outside of the bag (shown) telling Reagan that she loves her and hopes her Birthday is great and that she will be painting her nails for her very soon!

See the Jessie doll in the doll carrier on the back of the bike? Bullseye has been stuffed into the pouch on the front.  "Pinkalicious is ready for take-off!!"

We didn't show Reagan her cake before her Birthday, so when she saw it after opening her presents, her eyes grew wide and she threw off her Pinkalicious helmet.  She liked her cake, and it made Matthew and I happy to see her excitement over it!

I served the cake, and Reagan looked around and said to no one in particular, "I wish I had a Birthday hat."  No one responded to her, and a minute and bite of cake later, "I really wish I had a Birthday hat right now."
It dawned on me that I had told her that morning she could wear a birthday hat when she had her presents and cake, and we had picked one out from upstairs.  She was trying to hint to me in a round-about way.  It was funny!  She was all smiles once I clued in to what she was asking for. Like the hat? If it looks familiar, that is because  it is circa "Reagan's first Birthday".
